ESG NT2

The ESG NT2 is the ideal tool for cable sheath fault location and ground fault location, allowing the user to accurately pinpoint sheath faults with simple procedure and easy-to-read results.

The ESG NT2 earth fault locator measures the step voltage potential produced by underground test generators. Other existing underground distortions such as potential equalisation current, DC offset, 16 ²/ ³ Hz or influences from cathodic protection systems are automatically detected and eliminated. The automatic zero calibration maintains the display calibration continuously at zero.

The ESG NT2 has a high-contrast color display on which the measured step voltage is displayed in two ways: as a bar graph (similar to a conventional pointer instrument), and as a continuous “history-display” which shows both the current process and the last 5 to 6 measurement records. The deflection of the instrument always indicates the direction of the earth fault.

With built-in automation, the ESG NT2 requires minimal user input for accurate fault detection. Basic settings can be easily adjusted using the rotary encoder, while the device automatically adapts to input voltage levels. No manual calibration of the display, zero point, or measurement range adjustments are needed.

Traditionally, locating faults in low-voltage networks required disconnecting households from the power supply. However, with the ESG NT2 it is possible to detect cable faults while the power remains on, keeping households connected.

This breakthrough eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming customer coordination or unnecessary excavations to disconnect power. As a result, network operators can respond to faults more efficiently, reducing costs while ensuring a secure and rapid resolution.
